Summer is just around the corner, meaning now is the best
time to start looking into great value family holidays, in order to grab a good
deal. Just the thought of planning family holidays can cause many of us to
panic, as there is so much to do and think about. However, by sticking to our
tips below, you can make sure the whole experience is stress free, so that you
and your family can enjoy time away together.
Don’t be selfish
Number one rule is not to be selfish and look into family
holidays that you will all enjoy. For example, you and your partner may love
walking whilst on holiday, but there is no point even attempting to drag your
children on a long hike. Tantrums will soon happen and you will end up feeling
frustrated. You need to pick a holiday that will keep children amused. For
example, why not go to an all-inclusive resort? All meals and drinks are paid
for advance, meaning that your children can eat and drink to their hearts
content, without you worrying about how much it will cost you. Also, such resorts
come with supervised children areas, meaning that you can escape and do what
you want to for an hour or so.
Realistic
During family holidays you have to be realistic. Children
can tire easily and this is especially the case in hot countries, so don’t pack
each day full of activities. Test the waters. On day one see how they cope with
a few activities, from here you will be able to gage the level of activity you
can do, as you, your partner and children want to be able to enjoy the holiday.
Be prepared
Try and pre-empt any situations that may arise, which can
soon ruin a holiday. Before leaving the front door have you checked the
following?
1.
All the right vaccinations been administered?
2.
Are there facilities to buy necessities such as
nappies and formula?
3.
Is a visa required?
4.
Is a passport required?
5.
Have you the correct travel insurance?
6.
Do you have enough sun cream?
7.
Is the sun cream of a high enough SPF?
Ask questions
Before booking family holidays, it is worth asking the
travel agent about every aspect of the holiday. If they don’t have the answer, ask
them; who will? This way you won’t be met with any nasty surprises whilst away.
Check what facilities are available on the resort, if restaurants are a short
walk away, how far the beach is, if tap water is drinkable, how long the flight
is, if you can get any reductions on plane tickets for under 4’s etc. If you
run out of questions but still not sure you know enough to be confident, read
family travel blogs online, as they will cover everything you will need to
know.
Entertainment
Make sure that your children have enough entertainment to
keep them stimulated during the flight and holiday. Bored, restless childrens
will soon act up and quickly turn a nice peaceful flight into a flight from
hell. This is not only frustrating for you but also fellow passengers and so
easily avoidable by having your child’s favourite toy. Make sure that toys don’t
go against any regulations on the plane, as you child with be left heart
broken, as it is left behind, never to be seen again.
Meeting point
Last but by no means least on our list during family holidays, is to make
plans in case anyone gets lost. We are not talking about anything too extravagant
but something as simple as arranging a meeting point, where everyone goes to if
they get lost.
Good value cheap
holidays with the family can be stress-free, all you have to do is stick to
the points above and you will be able to have a very enjoyable time.
